You can use the golf cart for your daily trips if you’re staying a bit outside of Samara town. It’s also perfect for day trips to several beautiful beaches along the coast, like the hidden gem of Barigona or the long, white sands of Carrillo, the neighboring town. The carts are big enough to bring your umbrella, towels and some cool drinks and food for a lovely stay at one of many beautiful beaches.

First of all, driving them is very easy—just hop in, press the gas pedal, and you’re on your way! They are also not so noisy as other transportations vehicles which makes it possible to enjoy the nature and its natural sounds.

You can usually drive golf carts on public roads where the speed limit is 25 km/h (15 mph) or less. Just avoid highways and busy roads. Plus, it’s illegal to drive golf carts on the beaches, even though it might be tempting. Additionally, drinking and driving a golf cart is also prohibited.

General Tips for Safely Using a Golf Cart?

Use your seat belts if available, and be alert for faster cars, buses, and trucks. Don’t leave your personal belongings unattended in the golf cart, and of course, make sure to park your cart safely. Only park in designated areas to avoid fines or towing.

Our best tip is to set your route on the app before you leave your starting point, while you still have Wi-Fi or mobile data. As long as you don’t close the app during the drive, you should be able to follow the route even if you lose internet connection along the way.

Always carry a copy of your passport (with the customs arrival date stamp), your driver’s license, and the rental car papers. Costa Rica is a friendly and peaceful country, with no army and a small police force, but you might encounter a police checkpoint. As long as you have all the required documents, it’s a quick stop, often accompanied by a friendly “Pura Vida” greeting.
