That’s exactly what happened to your Dutch host, Pieter Monsma, when he first visited his Airport Samara in 2005. Standing in the middle of what was then a grassy, undeveloped runway, Pieter saw the hidden gem it could become.
He smelt the touch of nature, he was touched by the huge trees and the typical local Guanacaste trees, full of birds singing for him as a welcome song. It was love at first sight. Pieter, a former (passion) farmer, began working by hand, drawing on his deep knowledge of the land. His passion for building and nature remains as strong as ever. So, has Pieter decided to plant as much as trees as possible, to maintain the beauty of this land.
Pieter’s Vision for Flying in Costa Rica
In 2005, Pieter had a bold vision for alternative transportation in Costa Rica—by airplane. At that time, the roads were even worse than they are today, but the country was dotted with small private airports that made air travel easy. He had just bought one on Samara Beach.
Pieter envisioned a future where visitors to Costa Rica could spend their time more effectively by easily flying between the country’s many airports. Imagine golfing in Gabor or Tamarindo, shopping in San Jose or Liberia, or taking a quick flight to see the volcano at La Fortuna or to explore the Caribbean coast by flying into Limón. With this dream in mind, he decided to restore the runway and prepare it for this vision. Now, it’s ready to be shared with you.”

Pieter has made it possible for you to land on his airport and Mireille will help you to find your way. She has started in 1995 her career in tourism and was a group & incentive consultant at American Express for many years. Pieter has a solid background in sales and Marketing. Their mission is to help you create the perfect holiday experience by searching the best deals in town for you. Their belief is to make as much as possible beautiful memories in life together with the ones you love. Every time they spend time together with their four adult kids, they remember again how much they are grateful for that. They have experienced that holidays are also perfect moments for making memories together.
Mireille Enjoys the Free Spirit of the Beach
Mireille has traveled all around the world, but she was especially captivated by the natural beauty, the warmth of the people, and the free spirit of the beach in Samara. She’s very outgoing and loves parties and meeting new people.
Her daily routine includes a walk along the long beach, with a simple goal of reaching at least 10,000 steps a day. In Samara, it’s easy to enjoy a morning stroll along the beautiful Pacific coastline. Sometimes, she even dances on the sand, all by herself. She also loves to meditate and enjoys listening to inspiring podcasts about manifesting your most beautiful life.

Pieter and Mireille are also mindset coaches who continue to help people online achieve their goals. Whether you’re aiming for the perfect life or the ideal vacation, they’re both eager to assist you. They’re passionate about inspiring people to take action, whether it’s an internal shift in mindset or an external, life-changing experience.
They both have a strong preference for the bright sight of life. Therefore, they avoid the news and watching television. Instead, they are building a community of likeminded people who also enjoy living in this paradise. Their belief is that being happy and feeling confident is very much depending on their surroundings. So, this couple tries to inspire by “walk their talk”.
Both speak English fluently and are learning Spanish. Mireille has lived in the UK when she was young and Pieter in France for a short time. So, he enjoys speaking French as well. And of course, their Dutch is EXCELLENT 😊

They appreciate that Costa Rica is a peaceful country without a military, where people are encouraged to take responsibility for their own lives. They thoroughly enjoy the Pura Vida lifestyle, which they describe as a sense of freedom and community. Whether it’s a flat tire or a broken-down car, it’s all part of living the pure life and helping one another. That’s the essence of Costa Rica, according to this couple.
You’ll find Pieter and Mireille at the local market in Samara every Saturday, stocking up on lots of fresh fruits and vegetables. They both love Costa Rican food, so you’ll also see them often at one of the many soda restaurants around town, enjoying a delicious local meal. Or you might spot them beachfront, sipping on fruit smoothies and enjoying happy hour cocktails at various beach clubs. Life is just so good here.
Throughout the year, they enjoy the best of both worlds. In the cold and rainy European winter, they escape to the sunny beach of Samara.
During the Dutch summer, they spend quality time with their four kids, friends, and family. They love to enjoy festivals together and make beautiful memories together by travelling to Spain. Here we are in Ibiza, one of our favorite places in the world and where Pieter and Mireille met each other in 2019 and fell instantly in love.
