This charming beachfront hotel is almost always fully booked, so you’ll need to act fast to secure your reservation. And it’s easy to see why this hotel is so popular. Located just a short walk (or ride) from the town of Samara, it’s still within easy walking distance. We’ve spent many happy hours enjoying the golden hour at Bahia Hotel. The sunset views are stunning, with the sky turning shades of orange and pink, and the sunshine lingering late into the evening.
The atmosphere is wonderfully relaxed on the terrace, at the restaurant, and on the cozy pillows and hammocks. While we haven’t personally tested the beds or interviewed the host, the excellent ratings on booking.com make us confident in recommending this tranquil, lovely beachfront hotel.

2. Locando Samara Beachfront
This beautifully decorated beachfront hotel features large wooden sundecks with plush, oversized mattresses—perfect for lounging in comfort. Since comfortable beds are a key factor for many guests, we highly recommend this hotel if you’re planning to spend plenty of time relaxing by the beach. Locanda is centrally located, just a short drive from the center of Samara and right on the beach for those on foot. It’s ideal for families with children, as they offer family rooms, and it’s also a wonderfully romantic spot for couples.
The hotel features a lovely swimming pool and offers different types of rooms to suit your needs. The restaurant serves delicious meals, and even the details, like homemade tortillas, are crafted in the kitchen. If you order them as a snack with guacamole, you’ll be in for a treat. With an Italian chef and a pizza oven that’s always fired up, this is truly one of our favourite places to visit.
We haven’t tried the beds ourselves or had a chance to interview the host, but as you can see from the reviews, guests absolutely love it.

The Fenix Hotel is a charming, small hotel tucked away in the trees, right on the beach in Samara. It’s within walking distance to Samara town via the beach, yet feels wonderfully private. This boutique hotel offers a few beautifully decorated rooms, each designed with love and care. It truly embodies the Costa Rican “Pura Vida” spirit. The rooms even come with a small kitchen, so you can prepare your own meals at this incredible beachfront location.
A small swimming pool sits in front of all the rooms, with a view of the crystal-clear ocean. It’s the perfect place to escape for a few days and unwind on the beach. The hotel is also ideal for families with children.
And at the end of each day, the sunsets here are absolutely breathtaking.
